Advent wishes to keep you safe this December

Safer Gloucester is counting down to Christmas with festive advice to keep people safe and well at this time of year.

The group will be displaying a Christmas Advent Calendar on the website from today – just log in each day to get the latest advice in the lead up to Christmas.

Christmas is such a busy time for many people that they can become more vulnerable to opportunist crime.

There will be advice on a range of topics from safety when partying, to protecting your presents, shopping in the busy shopping centres to shopping on line – and, of course, how to protect those lovely presents once they are bought and wrapped.

There will also be advice on what to do if you have been a victim of a hate incident or domestic abuse.

Inspector Steve Wood said: “Gloucester Police are working hard to prevent and detect crime throughout the year but we do need residents to help us.

The advice on the advent calendar is useful, relevant and important – please take a couple of minutes each day to remind yourself of simple ways to stay safe.”

Cllr Jennie Dallimore, chair of Safer Gloucester said: “We want everyone to be able to enjoy the festive season and often this is a time when we go out more than usual with friends and family.”

“Safer Gloucester has put this Advent Calendar together to give us all some quick tips to stay safe whilst we are at home and when going out.”
