Safer Gloucester At Christmas

11/Nov/2011

Safer Gloucester At Christmas Safer Gloucester is hosting its Christmas Crime Prevention event in King’s Walk Shopping Centre on Wednesday 16th November with advice and information on how to keep your family and home safe this season.

There will be officers from many of the agencies which make up the partnership including Gloucester City Council, Police, Probation, Police Authority, Gloucester City Homes, Crimestoppers, Neighbourhood Watch, City Councillors, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Agencies and Drug and Alcohol Services on hand to give support and advice to residents, workers and visitors to the city.

Once again we have produced the ever popular calendar for 2012 with seasonal crime prevention messages for each month of the year and the November edition of the Safer Gloucester newsletter is hot off the press.

Safer Gloucester will also be offering purse spirals to visitors to the stand which are used to secure your purse to your handbag in order to prevent of opportunity of purse theft.

Gloucester Police Chief Inspector Richard Burge said “This is an ideal opportunity for residents to come and meet members of Safer Gloucester and discuss any policing or crime related issues they may have. We are leading up to the Christmas season now when people are busy with preparations and can forget to be diligent when securing their property. I would encourage everyone to visit the stand on Wednesday and take advantage of the advice and tools on offer.”

Cllr Kathy Williams, Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods at Gloucester City Council said, “ We value the views of our residents and try to meet them whenever possible. The Christmas Crime Prevention event is always an attraction on the community safety calendar and we do hope that as many residents will come and visit the stand, tell us what is important to them and at the same time, get some crime prevention advice.”
