ACT NOW
31/Jan/2012
Safer Gloucester (City Council, Police and Gloucester City Homes) are arranging an ACT NOW (All Communities Together) event for Tuesday the 31st January 2012 to be held in the Civic Suite, North Warehouse at 6pm.
ACT NOW is an interactive event where you play the role of a Police Unit who have just received intelligence of a potential Terrorist incident from a Senior Police Officer, and you have to decide how you are going to investigate. The situation is pretend but the scenario is very similar to what Police teams in the UK really do have to deal with. This is an opportunity to see the difficult decisions Police Officers have to make whilst against the clock when facing potential terrorist incidents, or any major crime.
You will be in groups, or 'Police units', with other real local Police Officers who will help explain what would happen if it was a real situation, and you will receive updates as you progress. Local Police Commander Gary Thompson will also be there to provide more information on how the Senior Police Officers oversee the work of the Police teams and what pressures they face.
ACT NOW is great for generating debate about issues such as when police should take action in a lively and fast moving situation, and deal with community issues that result from the incident. It's also a brilliant opportunity to glimpse the way Police work and chat to Officers about their duties.
This event will be primarily for City Councillors, members of Conservative Future and Council Officers, but if you would be interested in attending an event like this, please email CDPartnership@gloucester.gov.uk.
